Is it just me, or is this graphic in poor taste? Seems more tabloid than local TV news Web site. I enjoy a bit of gore, and I have a dark sense of humor, but with news graphics I tend to think about it from the point of view of friends or family of the victims. (Oh, also from the point of view of someone who doesn’t want to see lazily thrown together graphics on news Web sites.)

Clicking through to the article adds the details that the magazine seller may have been trying to steal from the homeowner who stabbed her (the homeowner was also injured), that everyone survived, and that the alleged culprits were captured. Perhaps the news channel feels like this is akin to showing a stock graphic of a wrecked car when reporting a crash.

Would I still find it tasteless if it weren’t poorly thrown together on a computer? If someone actually dropped a handful of magazines and dripped fake blood on them? Probably, but I also probably wouldn’t have noticed it in the first place.
