I had a brief conversation with Mike Cohn last week at the Better Software Conference about the new iPhone, in which I mentioned that the thing that might end up pushing me into making a purchase would be the release of Spore. In addition to the full game, which will be available on Mac/PC as usual, they’ll be releasing a version for the iPhone.
It’s been a while since I’ve been this excited about a new game concept (the Final Fantasy/Disney mix of Kingdom Hearts may have been the last one, and that’s more story/character than gameplay). It looks both fun and social, which is, of course, the future.
There are lots of good reasons to buy an iPhone. Mine just happens to be a video game. Sue me.
Cool note: Mike did some testing work on Spore. I think I may have geeked out a bit when he told me that. Sorry, Mike.
